The Redbury

The Redbury Hotel, formerly the Fairfax Hotel, was a complete gut and rebuild of a 4-story, 69-room historic hotel (1952) in Miami Beach, including the addition of a rooftop pool, sundeck and pool bar, and the build-out of a 233-seat restaurant called Bar Lorenzo.  The project included the complete demolishion and reconstruction of a single elevator shaft into a double elevator shaft, which was below original grade, and underwater.  This required 20 years of injectable grout around the elevator pit to create an underground sea wall.  Logisitcal requirements included the closing off of 3 city blocks to hoist structural steel for the poo/pool deck via crane to the roof.  The entire building had to be structurally reinforced with underground and vertical support structural steel to support the 40,000 gallon pool and the 10,000sf pool deck.  A high-tech Building Management System was installed for wireless control of temperature through personal communication devices.
